DevOps/Cloud Engineer

Job description

Enterprise productivity across Europe is under pressure. As complexity increases through geopolitical shifts, labour constraints, and tighter operational interdependencies, many organisations observe that AI and optimization efforts improve local efficiency but fail to deliver structural, enterprise-level gains.

At Superlinear, we work on this gap through enterprise orchestration: enabling better system-level decision-making across people, processes, and machines in environments where siloed optimization no longer works.

In our earliest pilots with leading European enterprises, we observe that moving from local optimization to coordinated, enterprise-wide decisions can unlock significant latent capacity. Productivity gains in the range of 10–30% are achievable by reducing systemic friction rather than adding infrastructure.

The 500 largest European enterprises represent roughly €14 trillion in economic output. Enabling even a fraction of them to structurally improve productivity would have impact beyond individual companies.

This is a long-term effort that requires rigor, restraint, and people who care deeply about their craft, take responsibility for outcomes, and are comfortable working on complex, high-stakes systems. This role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the foundations of enterprise orchestration in Europe’s most critical organisations.

That's why we are hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer with a focus on DevOps and Cloud.

The Role

As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (Cloud / DevOps), you take end-to-end ownership of cloud and deployment reliability across client missions. You remain hands-on, while also coordinating solutions at a broader technical level and setting standards that others follow.

You ensure that deployments are repeatable, observable, secure, and scalable, and you help the team continuously improve how infrastructure and operations are handled across clients.

What You’ll Build

Cloud architecture & deployment strategy

  • Design and evolve cloud-agnostic deployment patterns for AE-OS

  • Coordinate infrastructure solutions across client environments

  • Make architectural trade-offs balancing reliability, security, and speed

  • Promote consistency and reuse across deployments

CI/CD, automation & reliability

  • Own and improve CI/CD pipelines and release processes

  • Identify and reduce operational risk through automation and better tooling

  • Define and promote best practices for observability, monitoring, and alerting

  • Lead incident analysis and contribute to structural reliability improvements

Technical leadership & quality

  • Promote high code and infrastructure quality through reviews and standards

  • Identify and plan resolution of technical debt in infrastructure and tooling

  • Mentor other FDEs in DevOps and cloud best practices

  • Help others use AI and automation to work more effectively

Collaboration & feedback

  • Work closely with Deployment Leads, Product Engineers, and client IT teams

  • Clearly explain infrastructure decisions and trade-offs to non-specialists

  • Feed deployment learnings back into the Product team and Superlinear Playbook

  • Actively contribute to a constructive, ownership-driven team culture

Job requirements

Essential Experience

  • 6+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering

  • Proven experience owning production systems in complex environments

  • Strong background in cloud-agnostic architectures and automation

  • Experience supporting or mentoring other engineers

Technical Skills That Matter

  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms and infrastructure design

  • Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, containers, and CI/CD

  • Solid grasp of security, networking, and observability principles

  • Ability to reason at both system and implementation level

Mindset & Approach

  • Ownership-driven: you take responsibility for systems, not just tasks

  • Pragmatic: focused on reliability and impact, not over-engineering

  • Clear communicator across technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Motivated by improving how teams build and operate systems

Why This Role Matters

As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (Cloud / DevOps), your work directly determines how reliably Superlinear’s platform runs in the environments that matter most. You help turn one-off deployments into scalable, repeatable foundations—and help others grow along the way.

What We Offer

  • Impact: You’ll work on infrastructure and deployment systems that run at the heart of Europe’s most critical enterprises. Your work directly affects reliability, scalability, and trust in production environments.

  • Ownership: A senior individual-contributor role with real responsibility. You’ll shape cloud and DevOps practices across deployments and have a strong voice in technical and architectural decisions.

  • Growth: Room to deepen your technical expertise and broaden your influence. You’ll help define standards, improve tooling, and grow toward Staff-level impact if that’s the direction you want.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with experienced engineers, Deployment Leads, Product Engineers, and client IT teams. Our Brussels office (next to Central Station) is where we come together to build, learn, and move fast as one team.

  • Compensation: Competitive salary aligned with senior-level responsibility and experience.

  • Benefits: Comprehensive health insurance, group insurance, meal and eco vouchers, full transportation coverage, internet allowance, and additional Superlinear holidays.

  • Tools: MacBook Pro, GitHub Copilot, and modern cloud and DevOps tooling that helps you do your best work without unnecessary friction.

  • Culture: A team driven by ownership, meritocracy, and integrity—where technical quality matters, feedback is welcomed, and people support each other to do meaningful work.
