Forward Deployed Engineer (Cloud)
- Hybrid
- Brussel, Brussels, Belgium
- Deployment
Job description
Superlinear's mission is to strengthen the Belgian and European economy, with the ambition to improve EU GDP by 1%.
Enterprises today must do more to remain competitive, yet are forced to do so with less: talent, energy, and physical space are all becoming scarcer. The answer is Enterprise Orchestration: coordinating all decisions and activities across a company's value chain to eliminate the systemic inefficiencies that departmentalisation and rigid business rules create.
To make this real, we are building Holon, an Enterprise Orchestration Platform. The economic opportunity is massive, but it is bottlenecked by the sheer complexity of orchestrating at enterprise scale. That's why we are pushing the boundaries of what's technically possible, researching new technologies to significantly expand the scale and scope of the orchestration challenges we can solve.
We have early traction with some of Europe's largest industrial enterprises. Now we need engineers who can make those deployments reliable, repeatable, and scalable in the environments that matter most. That's why we're hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer with a focus on Cloud and DevOps.
The role
As a Forward Deployed Engineer (Cloud / DevOps), you take end-to-end ownership of cloud and deployment reliability across client missions. You remain hands-on, while also coordinating solutions at a broader technical level and setting standards that others follow.
You ensure that deployments are repeatable, observable, secure, and scalable, and you help the team continuously improve how infrastructure and operations are handled across clients.
What you'll build
Cloud architecture and deployment strategy
Design and evolve cloud-agnostic deployment patterns for Holon, our Enterprise Orchestration Platform
Coordinate infrastructure solutions across client environments
Make architectural trade-offs balancing reliability, security, and speed
Promote consistency and reuse across deployments
CI/CD, automation and reliability
Own and improve CI/CD pipelines and release processes
Identify and reduce operational risk through automation and better tooling
Define and promote best practices for observability, monitoring, and alerting
Lead incident analysis and contribute to structural reliability improvements
Technical leadership and quality
Promote high code and infrastructure quality through reviews and standards
Identify and plan resolution of technical debt in infrastructure and tooling
Mentor other FDEs in DevOps and cloud best practices
Help others use AI and automation to work more effectively
Collaboration and feedback
Work closely with Deployment Leads, Product Engineers, and client IT teams
Clearly explain infrastructure decisions and trade-offs to non-specialists
Feed deployment learnings back into the Product team and Superlinear Playbook
Actively contribute to a constructive, ownership-driven team culture
Job requirements
Essential experience
6+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering
Proven experience owning production systems in complex environments
Strong background in cloud-agnostic architectures and automation
Experience supporting or mentoring other engineers
Technical skills that matter
Deep understanding of cloud platforms and infrastructure design
Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, containers, and CI/CD
Solid grasp of security, networking, and observability principles
Ability to reason at both system and implementation level
Hands-on with our cloud and infrastructure stack: Azure (Container Apps and Container Apps Jobs), Terraform, and OpenTelemetry for observability, alongside Postgres, Azure Service Bus, and Azure Blob Storage. Equivalent experience counts too (e.g. AWS, Pulumi, AWS SQS/S3).
Mindset & approach
Ownership-driven: you take responsibility for systems, not just tasks
Pragmatic: focused on reliability and impact, not over-engineering
Clear communicator across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Motivated by improving how teams build and operate systems
Why this role matters
As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (Cloud / DevOps), your work directly determines how reliably Holon runs in the environments that matter most. You help turn one-off deployments into scalable, repeatable foundations, and help others grow along the way.
What we offer
Impact: Work on infrastructure and deployment systems that run at the heart of Europe's most critical enterprises
Ownership: A senior individual-contributor role with real responsibility and a strong voice in technical and architectural decisions
Growth: Room to deepen your expertise, define standards, and grow toward Staff-level impact
Collaboration: Work closely with experienced engineers and client IT teams in our Brussels office (next to Central Station)
Compensation: Competitive salary aligned with senior-level responsibility
Benefits: Comprehensive health insurance, group insurance, meal and eco vouchers, full transportation coverage, internet allowance, and additional Superlinear holidays

Culture: A team driven by ownership, meritocracy, and integrity
